David william parker (born 1960) is a new zealand lawyer, businessman and politician who was a labour party member of parliament from 2002 to 2025 After a career in law and business, parker entered parliament by winning the marginal otago electorate. David parker was appointed chair of the clean energy regulator on 3 july 2017 Mr parker has over 20 years experience in economics, public administration and policy and regulatory matters. He resigned from his revenue portfolio ahead of the 2023 election, due to labour ruling out a wealth tax policy.
